Bread is one of the oldest foods in the world and continues to be an important part of most people’s diets. This is not a coincidence; bread is one of the key foods in most diets. It is also one of the most versatile foods out there. It can be used as the main part of a meal, as an accessory, or everything in between.
Bread was first made about 30,000 years ago, though it did not resemble the loaf of bread commonly thought of today. Back then, bread was mostly flat, like the modern day pita or flat bread. This was because they did not have the method that allowed it to rise, and it was much easier to carry around while it was flat. They could put many pieces of bread into a relatively small container and not have to worry about it being squished.
It wasn’t until relatively recently, in the 1920’s, that the sliced loaf of bread was invented. It was originally feared that slicing the bread with a machine would cause the bread to go stale faster, a valid concern. The idea did have potential, though, and eventually caught on when the same machine was tasked with the process of bagging the bread at the same time it sliced it.
This ensured its freshness while also making it much more convenient than it previously was. It was also the rise of actual companies producing bread, as opposed to just bakeries making it.
While it is only recently that sliced bread became a staple of the diet, bread itself has been a staple for a long time because of the nutritional value that it offers. It is relatively cheap and low in fat, and it provides fiber, minerals, and carbohydrates. all of which are important parts of the average person’s diet. It also has many uses in meals and is not something that most people are likely to get bored of.
Bread’s most common usage is probably sandwiches, but that is far from the only thing that it can be used for. It complements pasta excellently when used to absorb leftover sauce from the dish.
It is the primary ingredient in cheese fondue. It can be served with eggs to mop up the leftover yolk. Basically, bread has a lot of uses. There are probably too many to even list in one place, and this serves to make it one of the most viable foods out there.
Bread has been around for thousands of years, and still has not been replaced. This is because there is no replacement for it, and it is one of the essential foods out there.
