Most of the most popular kitchen appliance brands, including Cuisinart, Hamilton Beach, All-Clad, Krups, and T-fal, sell at least 1 removable plate Belgian waffle maker. One of the exceptions is Breville. However, each brand typically only sells one or two models because they are more expensive to manufacture than the traditional non-removable plate waffle makers.
A removable plate Belgian waffle maker will make your life much easier because you can remove the plates after you are done baking your waffles and either clean them in a dishwasher or soak them in a sink full of warm water and soap, both of which are impossible with a waffle maker with nonremovable plates. These reasons are why people want to know which brands sell removable plate Belgian waffle makers when they visit a retail website to look for a waffle maker to buy.
You should know ahead of time that the majority of waffle makers on the market do not have removable cooking plates. Instead, the cooking plates are screwed to the housing which makes it more difficult to take apart.
If the waffle maker has removable plates, you just have to press the plate release buttons to easily release the plates to clean them in a dishwasher or a container of warm soapy water. This is the main benefit to owning a waffle maker with detachable plates.
Most companies only have 1 or 2 removable plate waffle makers for sale but most of these types of waffle makers make only Belgian waffles and nothing else. However, they can make 4 square-shaped Belgian waffles at a time so they can satisfy the appetites of a large hungry family who are busy and in a hurry.
One problem with these Belgian waffles is that they are not as thick as people may want them. Most people want 1-inch thick or thicker Belgian waffles and most waffle makers with removable plates make Belgian waffles taht are 0.75-inches thick. If you want to eat an extra thick Belgian waffle, then you will have to buy a Belgian waffle maker with non-removable plates such as the Bella 4-slice extra thick Belgian waffle maker that makes 1.2-inch thick waffles.
It is very rare to find a thin classic waffle maker that makes Eggo style waffles and also comes with removable cooking plates. There is only one that I could find on a retail website, the Black & Decker G48TD.
There are many 3-in-1 waffle and sandwich makers and grills with removable cooking plates that can make waffles, sandwiches, and steaks but they do not have the build quality of the dedicated waffle makers that only make waffles.
However, the majority of them come with 3 sets of cooking plates. One set is for making waffles. Another set is for making sandwiches. The last set has grill marks and is used for making steaks.
One problem with these 3-in-1 appliances is that they are only half the size of a dedicated waffle maker so they can only make two waffles or sandwiches at a time.
There are a few 2-in-1 waffle and sandwich makers with removable plates that only come with 2 sets of cooking plates. One set is for making waffles and the other set is for making sandwiches. However, these 2-in-1 appliances are even smaller than the 3-in-1 appliances which means they can only make one waffle or sandwich at a time.
So how do you figure out which waffle makers have removable plates?
If you want to figure out which waffle makers have removable plates, you have to look at the name or title of the product and search for the words ‘with removable plates’. Some people will exchange the words ‘interchangeable’, ‘changeable’, or ‘detachable’ for the word ‘removable’. So if the name or title has the words ‘with removable plates’, ‘with interchangeable plates’, or ‘with detachable plates’, then the product has removable plates that you can detach from the base.
There are several product listings that use the term ‘reversible plates’ in the title instead. This term means that one side of the plate is used to make waffles and the other side is used to make another type of food. So you can remove the plates from the base and flip the plates over and use the other side of the cooking plates to cook a different type of food, such as sandwiches, eggs, or bacon strips.
Sometimes the product owners forget to include the words ‘removable’, ‘interchangeable’, or ‘detachable’ in the title. In this situation, you will have to look at the product description for more information. You should look at the product description and look for the words ‘removable plates’, ‘detachable plates’, or ‘interchangeable plates’. The word ‘plates’ is sometimes substituted with the word ‘grids’ or ‘grates’.
Removable plates or drip tray?
Sometimes the title or product name will mention a ‘removable drip tray’ without mentioning anything about removable plates. In this situation, that could mean that this product only has a removable drip tray but the cooking plates are screwed to the base and cannot be removed unless you unscrew them.
Just to be certain, you should check the product description and look for the words ‘removable plates’. If you do not see the words ‘removable plates’ or some variation of it, then that most likely means that it only comes with a removable drip tray, and the plates are fixed and cannot be removed.
To make your life easier, I spent the time looking for waffle makers with removable plates and a removable drip tray and I could only find two that come with both. They both come from the Hamilton Beach company. They are the Hamilton Beach 26301 Flip Single Belgian waffle maker and 26201 Flip Double Belgian waffle maker. The removable drip trays are placed underneath the grids to catch any overflowing batter dripping down the sides.
How can you look at a waffle maker and tell if it has removable plates?
If you want to find out if a waffle maker has removable plates, you can begin by looking for plate release buttons on the right- or left-hand side of the upper or lower housing of the waffle maker. If you press these buttons, they should release the tabs that are inserted into the holes near the hinges of the appliance and you will be able to lift the plates out.
Most waffle makers with removable plates use tabs and plate release buttons to keep the detachable plates in place. However, there is one waffle maker, the Black and Decker G48TD, that uses metal clips to keep the removable plates in place.
The 3-in-1 appliances work a little differently. The plate release buttons are located on the inside of the upper and lower housings of the device. There are either one or two plate release buttons each on the upper and lower housings. If you press the plate release buttons, they will release the tabs from the holes in the hinges of the appliance.
What is the most common type of removable plate waffle maker?
The most common type of waffle maker with removable plates is the 4-slice Belgian waffle maker. All of the major waffle maker brands, including All-Clad, Cuisinart, and Krups, sell a 4-slice Belgian waffle maker that uses removable plates to make 4 square-shaped Belgian waffles at a time.
The best 4-slice Belgian waffle makerwith removable plates is the All-Clad Digital Gourmet because it is the only waffle maker with removable plates taht has pre-set waffle types, an extra browning time button, and a restart button.
The best flip Belgian waffle maker with removable plates is the Hamilton Beach 26201 because it is the only flip Belgian waffle maker with removable plates that can make two Belgian waffles at the same time.
Does Hamilton Beach sell removable plate waffle makers?
Hamilton Beach sells a lot of Flip and non-Flip waffle makers but only their Flip waffle makers come with removable plates. The Hamilton Beach 26031 is a single Flip Belgian waffle maker with removable ceramic plates. The Hamilton Beach 26201 is a double Flip Belgian waffle maker that also has removable plates but the plates are coated with Teflon instead of the more Eco-friendly ceramic.
Hamilton Beach 26031 flip single removable ceramic plate Belgian waffle maker
The Hamilton Beach 26031 uses a flip feature and removable ceramic-coated cooking plates to make one Belgian waffle at a time. The ceramic coating contains all natural materials so you won’t have to worry about flakes of Teflon getting baked into your waffles. It also has 5 temperature settings for different levels of browning, batter overflow tray, and power and ready to cook/serve indicator lights.
Hamilton Beach 26201 flip double removable plate Belgian waffle maker
The Hamilton Beach 26201 is the first double removable plate Belgian waffle maker. It uses a flip feature and removable Teflon-coated cooking plates to make two Belgian waffles at a time. Like the 26031, it also comes with a batter overflow tray and indicator lights but it doesn’t have the 26031’s adjustable temperature knob or ceramic coated cooking grids (26201 just uses the standard Teflon coating).
Does Cuisinart sell any removable plate Belgian waffle makers?
Cuisinart manufactures only one regular non-Belgian waffle maker, the Cuisinart WMR-CA, and several flip and non-flip Belgian waffle makers but only one of them, the Cuisinart WAF-300, come with non-removable plates.
Cuisinart WAF-300 Removable Plate Belgian waffle and pancake maker
In October 2013, the Cuisinart WAF-300 became the first Cuisinart waffle maker to have removable plates. If you purchase this appliance, you will get both waffle and pancake plates, a rarity for these types of waffle irons. It also has a 6-setting 1emperature control knob, power and ready-to-cook/serve indicator lights, and audio alerts.
Which Breville waffle makers have removable plates?
Breville has a reputation for making expensive high quality appliances, such as coffee machines and toaster ovens, that give you great performance for a really long time. Breville makes teh best classic and Belgian waffle makers. They come with many features, such as batter overflow channels, not found in other brand’s waffle makers but, for some reason, none of them come with removable plates.
Which All-Clad waffle makers have removable plates?
All Clad sells some of the best Belgian and classic waffle makers on the market. They get high marks for their aesthetics, even heating, and durability. However, for many years, they did not make a waffle maker that uses removable plates. Waffle loves had to wait until September 2020 for All Clad to release the Gourmet Digital and Manual waffle makers that use detachable plates to make four 1-inch thick Belgian waffles at a time.
All-Clad Gourmet 4-Slice Belgian waffle maker with removable plates
All-Clad waited until 2020 to begin selling a waffle maker with removable plates. The All-Clad Gourmet Digital and Manual 4-Slice Belgian waffle makers with removable plates are the most expensive waffle irons with detachable plates but they are worth the extra money because they have a heavy-duty stainless steel housing, powerful 1600-watt dual heating elements, and extra thick cooking plates for uniform heat distribution, resulting in perfectly baked waffles.
Does Black and Decker sell any Removable Plate Belgian waffle makers?
Black & Decker makes many popular flip and non-flip Belgian waffle makers that are affordable and easy to clean but only one of their Belgian waffle makers are designed with detachable plates.
Black & Decker only makes one American-style waffle maker, the G48TD, and it happens to comes with detachable plates.
Black and Decker G48TD 3-in-1 waffle maker & griddle with reversible plates
Only one waffle iron uses removable plates to make American, Eggo-style waffles, the Black and Decker G48TD. The plates are reversible so they can be used to cook waffles on one side and other foods, such as sandwiches, eggs, or bacon strips, on the other. Another thing I like about this appliance is that it has the largest cooking surface area of any 3-in-1 appliance because you can fold the top plate flat, enabling you to use both plates at the same time as a grill or griddle to cook sandwiches, eggs, bacon strips, or hash browns.
Does Bella sell any removable plates waffle makers?
Bella sells a nice Flip Belgian waffle maker and an equally well-regarded 4-Slice Belgian waffle maker but neither of them comes with removable plates.
The Bella 4-slice Belgian waffle maker makes 1.2-inch thick Belgian-style waffles which are thicker than the Belgian waffles from most Belgian waffle makers. So if you want a really thick Belgian waffle maker for breakfast, then I recommend that you purchase this extra thick Belgian waffle maker.
